How to Enter Inline Code and Code Blocks in the Q&A

If you're using Udemy to improve your programming skills, you may want to share your code using the Q&A feature in order to receive feedback or get help. This feature enables you to add syntax highlighting for code blocks and inline code, and this will make your code easier to read and understand.

The steps below will show you how.

How to Highlight Code Blocks in the Q&A

1. Code blocks are great when you want to highlight multiple lines of code.
2. Navigate to the Q&A box where you wish to enter your code block
3. If you want to attach your code to a question, type your question first.  Then click, Ask a new question
4. Enter the code block you wish to include and highlight it
5. Click on the inline code icon in the tool bar
6. Then click either Post Question or Add an answer
7. Your code will be nicely highlighted

How to Highlight Inline Code in Q&A

Inline code is great to use when you want to highlight a short snippet of code (for example: the definition of a function or the name of a variable) inside a paragraph

1. Navigate to the Q&A box where you want to add your code 
2. If you want to attach your code to a question, type your question first.  Then click, Ask a new question
3. Fill in what you want to say
4. Select the code that you want to highlight 
5. Click on the inline code icon in the tool bar
6. Click either Post Question or Add an answer 
7. Your inline code should be nicely highlighted!
